Kenya Entry Requirements
As of January 2024, Kenya has implemented a visa-free policy for all foreign nationals for tourism or business travel stays up to 90 days. However, travelers must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).
Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)
All visitors, including infants and children, must have an eTA in advance of travel to Kenya. Local authorities recommend applying at least 2 weeks before departure.
Travelers holding a valid Kenya permit can continue to use it until it expires.
The eTA is typically valid for a single entry into Kenya but may allow for multiple entries if you visit Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda without visiting any other country, and your eTA hasn’t expired (90 days from issuance).
US citizens can apply for a multiple-entry eTA valid for 5 years. If you are just transiting in Kenya, arriving and leaving on the same flight ticket, and not leaving the airport, you will not be required to apply for an ETA.
Kenya ETA Application
Applying for your Kenya ETA can seem daunting, but we’re here to guide you through the process.

1️⃣ Check Eligibility – Ensure you meet the requirements: passport valid for at least 6 months, at least 2 blank pages, eligible nationality, and purpose of travel (tourism, business, or medical).
2️⃣ Prepare Required Documents – You’ll need a scanned copy of your passport bio page, a recent passport-sized photo, a travel itinerary, and any additional documents if applicable (e.g., business invitation letter).
3️⃣ Submit Your Application Online – Apply through the official government website. Fill out the form accurately, pay the ETA fee by card, and wait for approval (usually a few business days).
4️⃣ After Approval – You’ll receive your ETA via email. Print it and present it along with your passport upon arrival in Kenya. Check the visa validity to ensure your stay does not exceed the permitted duration.
